Nearly all my audio mp3 files are not warped anymore!?!

Hi folks.

I had to reboot my laptop recently so i had to reinstall ableton 6. I use ableton to perform dj sets on and have recently spent months and months digitalising my vinyl collection. The mp3's that i cue up (warp) ready to mix, are kept in their own seperate folder, so when i rebooted my laptop i transferred all my warped files (mp3 & ableton file) to my external hard drive. i then rebooted my laptop, reinstalled live6 and then transferred my pre warped mp3 folder back onto my laptop.

The problem is, when i open up ableton and go to my mp3 folder, only about 10% of the tunes are still warped. the other 90% have lost all the warp points!!! I have tried reinstalling ableton several times and still no joy.

When i browse my mp3 folder through the library in ableton, all the tunes have a tick next to them as if they are ready to use, but most are out of sync!

I would really appreciate any help/ideas as ive got quite a few gigs coming up but i have got hardly any tunes to play!!! Not to mention all the months of hard work that seems to have been lost!

Thanks in advance!

Ken

Hi,

Did you have quicktime Player installed on the laptop before reformating? Installing Quicktime player would solve the problem I guess.

No, any Quicktime (so the latest) should do.

Hi,

In that case you should write to [email protected] to troubleshoot with them, as there may be a need for more back and forth communication.

Please give them the details asked for on that page:

did you use the "save" button in the editor window ??
i had similar problems. YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO CLICK "SAVE".
Otherwise the warp-points are not saved !
(anyway on my system) ;)

Hi - I am having this very same problem, attempting to copy my tracks and ASD files to my laptop. Almost every track has lost it's warping, despite being the same version of the program (6.0.7)

Its not the version thats the problem. Its how you work with these files.

An .asd file contains the warping information of a sample, but it also contains the location of the sample.

In some cases (I dont know why/how), moving samples may break the link between the sample and .asd file.

Personally, I make a .als file that contains all the warped samples and save it as a project (for backup purposes).
If things go wrong, I still have a file that contains all my work.

Live could probably use an option that "links .asd files + samples in a selected folder".
It could act as some sort of project manager outside of a project.
