Hello,

I'm looking for that slow down effect you get when you turn off your tape machine or turntable while the music is still going. I did a search for this question, and all it really turned up was the TbT Tapestop effect plugin. Sadly, this is only for PCs. I'm on a Macbook. There was also something about setting up a pitch envelope, but being very new to Ableton, I can't say that I understood the explaination very well.

Those topics were over a year old. Has someone made something like this for a Mac yet that anyone knows about? Or can someone understand in very good detail how I could re-create it in Ableton? This would be extremely appreciated! Thanks!

Hmmm....I wonder, have you tried just automating tempo changes in your live session?

depends on what you want to use it for... since you're new I will assume it's not for live use and only for a song you're making, in which case in arrangement mode you can change the tempo with an envelope.. if you want to figure out how to use it, read the ableton manual in the automation section.

the turntablist pro freeware wouldn't work for making a song? would it only work for live playing, but not record? i don't understand.

It takes a bit of work, but it will work. Assuming, like you said, that it won't be used in a live setting. It'll be more convincing than a mere tempo drop, that's for sure.

Have you tried the free super trigga plugin? I think that's how you spell it, it's not in front of me. I know it's for random changes, has the effect you want, and it's "instant" functions aren't exactly instant, but there is a work around. Just apply it to the track you want for a minute or so and then freeze and flatten the track. That should give it enough time to do it's random thing and hopefully somewhere in there get exactly the effect you are looking for. Then just slice and edit it up in the arrangement view and put that effected sound clip exactly where you want it.

I've used super trigga for turntbale stops in a live situation, you just set the other properties to 0 and it works pretty well
