Hello!

I'm a bit new to all this, so this may seem like a stupid question, but I'm tearing my hair out here and I can't make it work.

See, if I want to turn on a different application while working in Live, say iTunes for example, it won't work! The songs I want to play are not initializing.

It's -not- that they're playing but no sound comes out - they just won't start playing.

I'm using Live 5 with an EMU 0404 USB soundcard.

That sounds like its more an ASIO problem than Ableton's....there are 2 routes you can go....either get ASIO4ALL, a free application you will be able to download off the net, this will allow you to run more than one audio application at once....problem is....it doesnt work with all soundcards and personally I dont trust it in a live scenario... or you can change your audio drivers from ASIO to MME/DX...

ASIO is the preferred driver setting and will generally run better at lower latencies.... MME/DX settings arent great (generally they suck in fact) but it does alllow you to play other audio related applications at the same time as Ableton...
