firewire 410 driver update probs

whats the noob done now 
just updated driver from1.2.4 to 1.8.2 & had lots of probs with gaps in audio especially in itunes but quiktime was playing ahead of sinc and long silence if playing halo on line ive unistalled and re installed 1.2.4 no more probs anyone else had this prob ?
