multiple actions with single keystroke

Forgive my ignorance, I have literally been searching forums for three weeks to find the answer to this question (_something_ has to be done about the unmanageable nature of the forum search results!!!!). I frequently hear it said that this is possible, but I cannot find anywhere that says _how_ to do it. If it has been discussed, please just point me to the thread and I'll go on my jolly way.
I run: Ableton Live on MacBook Pro input through Alesis MultiMix8, for live looping.
I want: to trigger multiple actions with a single keystroke, SPECIFICALLY be able to hit one key (I'm using the laptop keyboard) and have _the current clip cease recording at the end of the quantized period, and the next track arm and begin recording in the same scene I'm working in_. In other terms, I am recording a clip, I hit a button to stop that recording, I record enable the next track, and hit a button to begin recording the clip in the next track - I want to do that with a single keystroke, and have it do those things in time.
I have succesfully mapped single commands in key map mode, so I can arm or record or play or stop or whatever a single command at a time; my problem is that I am recording live audio in, and need to be able to layer loops _immediately_, and even with seperate key strokes and hitting them fast I can't get them to go.
I have downloaded ControlAid but do not understand how to use it. I downloaded it based on a theoretical understanding that I coud create midi commands via laptop using Mac IAC, and use those commands to trigger multiple keystrokes in Live via ControlAid. Help manuals and instuctions, if they exist at all, have been pleasingly unhelpful.
