Changes from Live 6.0.8b5 to Live 6.0.8b6:


Improvements

Extended the volume and frequency range for the test tone within the audio preferences.
Volume range is now: -70 to 0 db
Frequency range is now: 5 to 20000 Hz

Until now, when mapping MIDI CC to a on/off button, the button is switched when the MIDI CC value crossed 64.
Now, it is possible to set up min and max value for such a mapped button.
The idea is that when the CC value is between min and max, the button is switched on (or off in reverse mode).
If the CC value is outside the min and max range, the button is switched off (or on in reverse mode).


Bug fixes

On OS X, Live would silently crash when having no write access to the /tmp folder.
Now, Live shows a message box and quits normally afterwards

Within a rack device, a hot-swap button could not be toggled.

Renaming a macro control, which has been mapped to an outer rack’s macro control, would not be possible.

The old behaviour when mapping a Macro to an On/Off button was: from 0 to 63, the button is OFF, from 64 to 128, the button is ON.

Now, you can set a range. So, if the range is 1 to 127, the button will be OFF only when the Macro is at 0, and ON for the rest of the range.

If the range is 5 to 127, the button will be OFF when the Macro knob is between 0 and 5, and ON the rest of the time.

Before you could only affect a switch by moving a value past 64.
That was fixed.
Now you can alter that value and turn a device on by crossing any value you wish.
But since this works in different ranges, you can basically turn different devices on/off with one knob.

Say you use knob to sweep thru instruments.. You can use that same knob to turn the unused devices off.

Beaten by a minute, damn!

Is there any word on the fix for http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=68040 ?

Its been reproduced many times to confirm.
Ableton introduced this bug with Live 6.0.7.
If needed I can link multiple bug reports that appeared over the net since 6.0.7.

Fantastic! I was just trying to achieve this somewhat recently and was thinking...I wish I could control ranges for buttons.

I just downloaded 6.08b7 because of this fix, as I have to hit buttons on my M-Audio X Session Pro twice to get Ableton to respond -- they send 0 for off and 64 for on, so Live doesn't see the controller cross 64 until you go to 64 and back to zero.

But I don't see where I can set the controller range in the MIDI mapping. Any clues?

Open the browswer while in MIDI map mode and make it wider to see those fields.
