Hi everyone,

Help! Live is just not cooperating right now (5.2.2).
I have a set containing 14 tracks mixed, I choose the master output hit render to disk and away it goes, it maxes the CPU then Completely stops at 28% no matter what options I choose. Please help! It's been happening for a while now and it's just killing me. has anybody seen this, please help!

I'm using an IBM thinkpad T42 with plenty of Ram and plenty of hdd space.

Rendering completely stops at 28% ?? Help please

I forgot to mention that Live crashes when rendering hits 28%, there's no way to bring it back and have to end the process...
help!

You say it maxes the cpu... try freezing some tracks before rendering.

do you mean deactivate some tracks?
I did that but same problem, it's my computer's cpu maxing out and not the Live engine.
I started rendering the arrangement with the task manager open, I can see the cpu reaching close to 100%, rendering continues, but at 28% it just stops and the cpu goes down, Live freezes completely.

any thoughts?

thx

do you use any vst?
to check if the problem comes from them, rename your VST folder, load the set and try to render.

No VST's only live stuff.

I was confused earlier about freezing the track, Now I tried freezing track 2 and Live crashed at 61%.

Freeze all of the tracks, if you have too.
Probably it's a vst causing that, but freezing the tracks renders them as audio only, so you might be able to pull it off.

what's strange is that you're able to play the set, but not render it.
anyway. to get the rendered file, you can create an audio track, choose "resample" as the audio in and record while the set is playing.
if you want to find what's causing the problem, delete the tracks one by one and render until the bug doesn't happen.

I was able to replicate the problem on my T60 core2duo, 2GB Ram.

I copied the set and the sounds, was able to open/play the set and this time although the cpu didn't max out it stopped rendering at 27%..

to make it clear it's only 2 audio tracks with around 10 mp3's (good qual) each (14 song set). Freezing track1 crashed at around 61%, there's no VST folder setup on that computer either. seems like somethings wrong w my set?? too much MIDI stuff? too many breakpoints? too much warping? too loud?

thanks for your suggestions guys keep em coming!

right, so it's only 2 audio tracks... i thought it was 14.
maybe it's one of the mp3s. try to remove one that's about at 1/4 of your set (round 28%).
see if it still happens.
can you freeze one track but not the other?
that would mean it's one of the mp3s of that track.
what's the "midi stuff"?
anyway, i still find it strange that you can playback the set but not render it.

Still no luck!

I tried deleting all songs from both tracks, started rendering, looked promising for a sec, then stopped at 31%,
I was referring to too many MIDI controls that I'm using for all the effects EQs and Filters.
still couldn't freeze any tracks but yea i can play the set from beginning to end with no problem...

Hi,

Can you send me the set, without the samples, at amaury@ableton.com?

Regards,
Amaury
