Allright everyone I'm new to recording. I am attempting to record live dj mixes to my laptop using ableton live 6.0 and a m-audio fast track pro. I have a pioneer djm-800 with a s/pdif output. I am attempting to connect the digital output to the digital input on the m-audio interface. When doing this I get no signal that is able to be monitored by the m-audio and i see no signal in the ableton live mixer. Also I have noticed the s/pdif is not even a selectable input for ableton but you may select it as output. Is there anyone out there who can coach me through my dilemma.
Thanks everyone
William

Go to your preferences and activate your spdif input.

Sample rate is the same on both devices 24 bit 96khz.

On ableton I am unable to set s/pdif as an input only as an output. My input choices are 1/2 dx, 3/4 dx, 1/2 wav and 3/4 wav. There is no choice available for s/pdif.

you have to activate the sp/dif input in your control panel for the m-audio device

please elaborate on "clock source..." i'm trying to hook up my old mbox to my FW 410 via spdif, but cant get it to see anything...

i can get the 410 to show that it's sending spdif out, but it recieves nothing in... hmmm

i think i'm just missing a setting... and is the connection just like midi where the in goes to out and the out to in? or do you match them?

thanks all!!!
