Sound In Vista but not in Ableton with Asio4All

So up until today I had been using the motu asio driver with my ultralite and ableton. Recently i bought monitors and after hooking them up the Asio driver does not produce any sound in ableton. If i switch to mme it works fine but the latency is unbearable. I had some trouble getting the motu set up for the monitors and its possible I changed some kind of hardware or driver setting that is causing this. I get sound from every other program in vista including itunes but ableton doesnt work with the asio. Please help!!!

To elaborate, when i have it set to asio i can actually see the meter on my motu ultralite bouncing up and down. So apparently ableton is sending it the data, but it just isnt being sent to the main outputs. I dont know what the deal is here. This is very frustrating. Any ideas?

So I got the asio driver to work in reason, but ableton still isnt working. doesnt make any sense. it works in reason, but in ableton even though i can see the signal in my ultralite's meter i cant hear anything. Arg!

Ok, so ableton doesn't recognize your sound card driver? I know that some in/out devices don't have asio capabilities. My brother uses an Alesis 8chan. mixer that connects through USB but doesn't have any drivers available for it, so, he just uses the MME.
Try lowering the in and out buffer sizes as low as they'll go before they start crackling. Low buffer sizes are used for recording. High buffer sizes are used for mix downs and stuff.

Thanks. That didnt help unfortunately. After hours of trying to figure this out her is what I do know:
Audio works under staight up MME mode
Audio does not work under MOTU ASIO and ASIO4ALL mode (though they both appear as devices that can be selected)
The ASIO4ALL driver transmits data to the MOTU (i can see the meter bouncing up and down) but i cant get it out of the MOTU. The MOTU ASIO driver however does not show anything on the meter.
The same MOTU ASIO driver that doesnt work in Ableton works in Reason
Finally, the MOTU ASIO and ASIO4ALL drivers used to work fine in Ableton. I was using them for a year with no problems but now it is a no go.
What a headache!

darkmatter:
just a try: try to route the output-channel in ableton (in the master-section) to the channels 11/12.

See if somehow "play in background" got checked in Reason's audio preferences. You don't want that checked; otherwise, Reason's the only app that can access the ASIO drivers.

Thanks. Already tried the 11/12 routing without any luck. And as far as Reason goes, I hadn't used it at all until this problem happened and I only opened it up recently to see if the problem would happen in Reason too (which as I mentioned it didnt, so maybe this problem is an Ableton issue, not an Asio issue?). I did however just check on this and the play in background option was in fact checked, but unchecking it didnt help. Any other ideas?

I have the same issue. I can't get audio out of the main outs for ableton live 6, but I can out of every other software. If I switch to MME drivers, I can get audio, but the latency if crazy bad. I can (in asio mode) get the audio out of the headphone jack, but that is it. I have the correct drivers, etc. and everything on my computer works EXCEPT ableton live asio with main outs. I posted to motu about this but they gave me the same responses so far. Change the output, change the firewire card, re-install the os, etc. Nothing has worked thus far. I had live 4, but went a bought live 6 recently and I am ticked about this whole issue! Also, the meeter is blank when I play back with asio through ableton live. Yet, shows up for everything else.
