Hi,
I was looking for info about the Zero8 from korg and i came acroos info about the Lemur. I had heard it mentioned beofre so looked at the website fro it. WOW!!!!!!!!
DO you have one, and does it translate well to Live? I read about it and watched the video and imagined all the thingsi could do with it. Can you totally customise each screen?

Would you say it is a good buy, or is a more traditional knobs-based mixer better?
My Zero8 fund may just have changed.

Peace,
kpa

It's great. Works well with Live (or anything that recieves midi)...

...but it's really coming to life now when I'm getting to grips with Max/Msp. Open Sound Control kicks midi's ass! Maybe OSC will be implemented in a future revision of Live (drool). I hope we have some people on the "inside" lobbying for just that!

having played with a lemur once or twice, the thing which grabbed me was how easy it is to press te wrong thing and make a fuck-up.

i prefer to close my eyes and reach for a fader and know i wont end up resetting te volume to anything else by accident.

id love a zero8 :D

Agreed - that's what bugs me about touchscreens, there's no tactile change from one control to the next. You can't "feel" your way around the controller.

this is exactly (kind of) the thing i have been thinking about doing. having a few screens for each track with everything you need to launch mix and change any fx. i reckon once you set it up right, it will be an awesome live tool.

The best thing about it is that you can improve yr control surface after every show. I've gone through 5 completely different builds in half a year with tons of little tweaks in between.

You kind of have to be a tweaker. The controls can jump every once in a while, there's limited internal memory, the relative MIDI impementation is funky, & you have to run lean interfaces if you want to get around latency, but you're also free to just keep trying things forever. It really helps with zeroing in on yr control style & needs.

For me the ideal setup is the Lemur plus 1 or 2 small hardware controllers.

Hi Lemur users:

Thing looks awesome.

Is the going price still 3K though!
I need to win the lottery.

Question:
How many user defined interfaces can the lemur store?

I didn;t see that anywhere in their faq

enough.

also they are stored on your computer as well and only take a second or two to
upload to the lemur.

You can count on getting 4 or sometimes 5 pages packed with controls before running out of memory.

I sold all my hardware synths. And haven't looked back.

I did a fairly extensive Lemur write-up here:
