.dll file not showing in Live.. please help!

Post by mortgagejunglist » Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:43 am

(possibly a very silly question)

A mate modified a Reaktor dll so it has more functionality.

The .dll loads fine in Live on his laptop, but does not show up in Live's plugin browser on my machine. (we run version 6)

the .dll is in the correct plugins folder, and it can be seen in windows explorer.

When my Live boots up, it scans for plugins and you can see the dll's name flash up briefly as Live runs through the list of plugs.

But once Live is up and running, it cannot be seen in the live plugins browser.

My machine is running windows XP service pack 2...

(Might not be a Live problem at all - the .dll can be seen on other friends' machines that run Live)

it's a bit frustrating really... the modified reaktor .dll is a wicked tool, can't wait to play with it!

grateful for any advice, thanks in advance!

1) The .dll's not going to do any good without the full Reaktor. It sounds like you're just trying to use the .dll without having Reaktor installed.
2) If you do have the full version of Reaktor installed, the standalone needs to be run at least once for the new .dll to initialize correctly. Also, there has to be a copy of the .dll in the VST subfolder of the Reaktor program folder; otherwise there's nothing for the .dll in your plugin folder to link to.
3) You won't get any support from NI. Any modification/recompiling/reverse engineering of the .exe or .dll is strictly against the EULA.
4) The 'more functionality" is probably more than equally offset by lesser compatibility.

hello ewistrand ,

i did modified the dll because it's frustrating to not be able to use the 16 audio outputs when using reaktor as a vst , I think you 'll agree with me about that , I hope reaktor 6 will not need any modification ;-)

btw the modified dll works really good here

do you want it ewistrand ?

bye
