Dual core and Waves VST plugings

I have Ableton 6 and a Intel Dual Core CPU. Ableton's native plugins do use both cores but my Waves Renaissance plugins (the latest version availabe) are using only one core which is really inefficient. I called Waves and they said their plugins do support dual core but just not in Ableton Live due to some incompatiblity in the Ableton Live. Leave it to Waves to pass the buck.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is Ableton going to make their software compatible with Waves plugins regarding dual core usage or I Waves just blowing smoke?

Hi Rick,
just saw your similar question in the voxengo forum, don't know about waves plugins but to my knowledge the following aplies to all vst plugins. This is what I answered over there:
"Live 6 supports the spreading of plugins to different cores, but with one limitation: the plugins on one track are always processed by one core. To see this in effect, create two audio tracks, put some samples on there and start loading cpu-heavy plugins to one channel. In the taskmanager you can see how the load on one cpu increases. Now load plugins to the second channel and watch the load on the second core increase. easy as that
Another thing I noticed is that when routing an audiostream to an audio track via the "audio from" option, the two interconnected channels are both processed on the same core. In this case it seems like Live 6 treats them as one audio stream, hence does not distribute the according plugins to different cores.
Imho Live 6 does a great job of distributing cpu load, most noticable when using lots of channels."
hope that helps,
Phil
