Live's 'snapshot' of MIDI controllers screws everything up..

Hey folks...this has been a problem from the very beginning...IF I AM MISSING SOMETHING, PLEASE TELL ME and I'll shut up about it.

Again...I feel like I'm the only one USING this program to PLAY sometimes. How is everyone else getting around this in a live situation??

SETUP: because Live always recognizes it's midi assignments, regardless if the track has been armed (a handicap I've begged to be fixed for 3 years), I am forced to use the brilliant VST shell Chainer in my set up. Using Chainer, I can bypass Live's all-the-time assignments and load up 6 or so VSTi's...NI's B4, Synth 1, M-Tron, etc, on seperate Midi tracks. I arm the track, and ALL the knobs and faders act on that instrument only for the moment...perfect.

PROBLEM: everything is fine as long as I don't RECORD. :-(
If I play the B4, and move the faders all around to adjust the drawbars, and then I switch over to Synth 1 and then record a clip...LIVE 'SNAPSHOTS' the midi controller (even though I haven't touched the faders or knobs!) and Synth 1 now reacts to the B4's fader assignments...disastrous.

And yes...this is the same thing if I use B4's or Synth 1's or any other VSTi's internal midi assignment mechanism.

QUESTION: Is this a setting somewhere inside Live that can be changed??

How on God's Green Monkey Earth is everyone getting around this??

How is anybody out there looping on the fly without having MIDI CONTROL over 'Record On Scene Launch?" (Unless you just have a mouse in your hand all the time...yuck).

Sorry to rant...throw me a freakin' bone here.

yeah, i just learned that the only way i can use my BCF on Stylus RMX is if the tracked is armed for recording, only then do the midi CCs get sent to Stylus via Live.

i'm sure you've tried everything; can you play with doubling your tracks, so the record-armed tracks are different than the track with the actual plugin?

Have you played with separte presets on your controller? I know that Live does not "see" more than one pre at a time on my BCF (it doesnt updte preset 2 unless i hit comm+M). Bummer, but maybe that culd be used to advantage.

Hope you get joy.
