Help: Midi timing wrong during recording..

Hi there,

I've (PC Win XP SP2, live 6.0.7, M-Audio Audiophile Interface) got the following problem:

I have two Midi tracks 1 & 2. On each one is a soft synth. The metronome is switched on. A clip on each track is running.

When I press the track's record button of a Midi track, the timing of this track instantly goes completly wrong. I cannot compensate it with a track delay.

The timing goes in sync only if either
- I turn of the tracks midi in. "Midi from" - to "No input" or
- I turn monitoring off
But in both cases I cannot record...

I saw various threads touching Midi timing issues, but I suppose, that I don't have a latency problem (some msecs), I have a fat delay here, I think 1/2 sec or something.

Thanks in advance for any hint!

Regrads,

Hello,

Are you using any 'send' on the trackyou are monitoring, i.e. is it sending signal to a return track as well?

Hi Amuray.

no, all send are turned to zero.

I'ts a imho simple setup, with just the two midi tracks. It happens instantly, when I press the record button.

Somehow I feel, I'm doing something generally wrong...

Thanks for helping,

Hi,

Is Delay Compensation turned ON in the Options menu?

And: This behaviour is "only" with 3rd party VST Plugins; I seem to not have it with Impulse, Sampler etc...

Thanks again!

Hi,

Is that happeneing with any third party plugin, or just with some? If so, which ones?

Also, do you tracks route to any other track, or is just a 2 tracks set, going to the Master track?

Amaury

I suppose it happens with every 3rd party plugin. I tried Guru (FXpansion), Phosycon & Drumazon (both D16).

No, both tracks go directly to the mastertrack.

Do you have any suspicion?

Thx,

BFD & LIVE NOT SYNC'ING.....

hi all

1st of all im not a great forum user blah blah blah.....

however, need to find an answer to a prob i have....

power book g4 - 1.67 ghz power pc - 1 gb ram
live vers 6.0.7

right, i just installed BFD and loving the sound of it, perfect for power kits over the top of my warped breaks.
i load up some humanised midi loops to play inside of it which play back fine but won't seem to sync tight with the break/s
i quantise them and still no joy...i compare the tightness of them against impulse, (which i was using for power kits prior to getting BFD) and they are totally off.
impulse is totally tight and BDF seems to be out (major flamming!!)
so, i mess around with various setting in BFD looking for the obvious latency/ram/buffer type settings no joy......(im still getting a clean non glitched sound)
but...when i quantise BFD and leave impulse loose this sounds better but is no good to me because it's not in time with the warped breaks... thus not tunes getting done without a load of bouncing and rendering and no tweaking.....someone tell me what i need to know ..... more ram/buffer settings........etc (as obvious or as cryptic as it my be.....i neeeeeeed to be getting this LP done already!!!!!)

cheers dears
