Ok well I have been fussing with this idea for some time and I was just thinking someone might be able to help me with it.
Does anyone know if there is any way to set up a global parameter as a midi controller?
What I am doing is I have my djm800 for all the midi control but what I would like to be able to do is map the eq to the eq of any channel in ableton and then be able to switch tracks in ableton and have the same eq control that one so that I could jump left and right thought the different channels and control the eq for each of them with this global controller when it is selected.

I don’t know if I am being vary clear about how im asking this.

One set of 3 knobs controls the same parameter on only the selected track in ableton. The select the next one and be able to change that one without effecting any of the others and so on.

Any help would be great
:)

Unless you want to effect the entire mix you'll have to set up 'send onlys', or just put eqs in wach track and turn them on or off when you want them.

If you do want to effect the entire mix just put an eq in the master track

Atleast thats the first thing I thought of. Hope that helps.

Do you know what I mean by 'send onlys'?

Can't u do this by hacking the user remote scripts?
Unless I'm reading ur post wrong, what u want is very simple.

Check this tutorial on how to do it LINK

But I’m running ableton on a mac book pro, can you recommend anything?

I don't use Mac but I've heard people using Control Aid on Mac for midi translation.
