Usually Im on Beatport getting my stuff.

My boss asked me if I knew of a download site to get MP3s that arent in some weird AAC or windows media format with some lock on how many times you can copy/ move/ burn.

Anyone know of a good site that has all the genres the average person would want to download music. It would have radio songs, rock,...bla bla bla.... in MP3 format?

Suggestions?

(yes, a legal site please)

I heard emusic is good. Also if you buy music from itunes just burn it to a CD and encode it back to mp3 and all the security bullshit is removed.

converting it back from the cd through iTunes?

iTunes will strip away the security stuff from the AAC format, or do I need another app to do that?

When you burn the initial CD it doesn't copy that stuff over. All you need to do in your preferences is set the encoding type to mp3 and all the crap will be gone.

And you'll also get a lot of artefacts from transcoding as a bonus.

Emusic is GREAT!!!!........ If you like independent artists you don't hear on the radio all that much... It's pretty much dedicated to indy labels and underground artists. There's a bunch of ish from the Hip-Hop crews that are regionally popular (crap like E-40 from the Bay Area, Dip Set from NYC, and Little John from the South), but if you like ish like that, or some of the better underground ish you'll like it. I've been a member for a minute and I like it because it does have some really good old Jazz and Soul on it.

Peace
