(From me) This is freakin cool!! I missed DBlue Glitch switching to a mac, not anymore!! A lot of control, easy tio use, and no bugs yet!

Plus its only 15 bucks!

no offence but this is def. not better than dBlue Glitch AND it costs $.

I could see justifying paying for this if it had more features and actually sounded better, but it doesn't. It was written in Max (which 'sounds' tingy to begin with). Furthermore, this only works with Live, whereas Glitch works with several hosts.

I think it is a shame that they would charge for this plugin knowing very well they are exploiting Mac users who wish they could use Glitch.

isn't all business based on a demand of some sort? it's not exploiting at all it's an attempt at filling a demand the same way subway attempts at filling a demand for food by hungry people. You could then say that Subway is exploiting hungry people by making them pay for food.

Spamming or not. It ai'n near as good as Glitch

BT's glitch plugs coming out soon...I'm sure he'll make a mac-pussy version.

maybe i am missing something.. and i read the manual.. but is there a way to control the effects in real time and not use the sequencer? i mean really.. all i need is some of these effects standalone and automate them using live...

I wasn't "spaming", I just posted it into tricks and tips, but thought I'd share it i General too since so many mac-cats had shared my sentiment.

Sorry if I put it in a sales"ish" way, I've done sales and marketing for 25 years and it's almost habit.

I'm just happy to have a pretty cool little vst to play with and get some of the good randomness like I did with DBlue. Sure they may not sound the same, I agree Max does not sound as thick, but that's what good preamps/effects/ and mastering are for.

And yeah, I am totally down with the free VST's, but you can't complain about fifteen bucks for a new toy.

There has been many threads on this.

Bottom line for me is Major Malfunction has a 10% CPU hit over dbGlitch. I don't have 10% to lose so it's a nonstarter.

The author of MM has posted here before that this is due to the overhead of requiring the pluggo runtime.

I'm actually really excited over BT's plug ins. Have you seen the video demonstration? So easy. Sounds great.

And, btw, BT's "This Binary Universe" was one of the best electronic albums of 2006.

Does anyone have a link to the BT Glitch Stuff? Google kept taking me to hot guy-on-robot action.

To those who feel that Glitch is "better" than my plugin - you're obviously free to feel that way, but since Glitch is not available on the Mac, isn't it a moot point?

Also, please see the latest release of Major Malfunction, version 2.0, which was just released. It has two very important new features. (1) It allows *multiple* effects to be triggered on each step, with audio routing either serially or in parallel between those effects. Glitch (nor any other similar product that I'm aware of) has that feature. And (2), I've *dramatically* improved performance over previous versions. In the past, the plugin incurred the overhead of all effects being active at any one time, even if the effect wasn't "activated" in the grid. That's changed in the new version - only the activated effects put load on the processor. The net result is that the new version has about 1/2 the CPU consumption for routine use than the previous versions, even with the additional "multi" feature.

Finally, to those who make that point that Glitch is free, and Major Malfunction is not - that's true, and all I can say is that for me, considering the amount of time I've invested into the plugin's development, asking for the small amount I charge (only $25 for the latest version) is not unreasonable at all.
