Follow Actions on Scenes

I would like to be able to use Follow Actions on Scenes. Follow Actions are very useful and clever for launching clips and it would be very nice to be able to use them for launching Scenes in certain sequences.

Yes

The two ways to achieve it currently are using blank clips strategically so that even "empty" cells can have follow actions,

or

using MIDI loopback and dummy clips mapped to the scene launches

I also think this is a logical extension to the Live philosophy, totally makes sense and extremely usable.

I recall using the MIDI clip workarounds and it is way too much trouble, simply follow actions on scenes would be the best way imo

Hi guys.
Do you know you can actually do this with dummy midi clips and a virtual midi driver?

behavior question:

would scene follow actions override any follow actions which were on individual clips in that scene?

seems the logical way but maybe somebody had another idea

It seems logical that the scene follow actions would override any clip follow actions. However, I could see how you may be able to do more with these follow actions working separately.

For example, you could have several melody clips playing within a constant order using clip follow actions and at the same time have the scene follow actions controlling your beat order.

Maybe there could be an option when turning on scene follow actions as to whether or not they would override the clip follow actions.

This could open up some very interesting live possibilities.

You could please just consider that not everybody speaks english well on this forum.
Anyway I will take the risk to help you. Here is my method to do follow actions on scenes:
I midi-map a midi note for each scene, let say C3 to C4 for 12 scenes.
Then I put a new MIDI track, wich outputs MIDI to MIDI yoke (I am on a PC). Midiyoke should be activated as input remote. Down the pre made scenes, I put MIDI clips on that track, with just one note in it, corresponding to the scene. Then you can arrange follow actions on them.

J'éspère que ça te donne un coup de pouce et que tu vas respecter un peu plus les forumeurs non-anglophpones. Merci.

sorry, I know that was snarky and I don't usually do that.

I think your english is plenty good enough to see that two people had already talked about using dummy clips, however

;)

no big deal

No problem... And I admit I did not see you've already told that.....

I realize that you can accomplish something similar with dummy midi clips or assigning midi notes to each scene, but I think the ease of using follow actions on scenes really has its benefits.

This would really free you up to be more hands-on when live, rather than focused on maintaining the structure of your song.

don't forget, also blank clips!
