i am having an issue related to track volume automation in Live 6.07
first off, i have a midi track feeding into the IAC bus which is solely comprised of midi notes that automatically trigger track arming and clip recording.
when i draw a volume curve in arrangement view for one of my audio tracks, it is not playing back that way and i don't see the fader move in session view. The red dot that was on the fader turns gray, and in arrangement view the 'track volume' selection in the drop down menu turns gray. The red automation line turns dark / greyish red. I can't get the volume selection to become available again unless i close the set and re-open it.
However, when I turn off that midi clip i mentioned before, the automation curve works fine.
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
track volume automation not working ?? Live 6.07
Hi,
It sounds like the volume fader in question somehow receives remote control data, from the IAC port which then bypasses the automation. The effect of this is the same as if you were clicking the volume fader.
Can you make sure that:
-there is no 'loop feedback' with your IAC port
-that the Volume fader has no remote control assignement

Amaury

i've found that if i click the 'back to arrangement' button i can get my automation back, but that button lights up every time a new command is given to ableton from the iac bus, so i'd have to keep clicking it repeatedly. however, i found an easier solution which is to assign a midi controller to the volume faders and make another MIDI track of just fader moves / control changes and send that to the IAC bus

Again, I would check in the MIDI Preferences, if the IAC bus is not creating a loop. The fact that you have to click the 'back to arrangement' button means that the volume is changed, either with the mouse or via remote..
