I have had both and currently use the Korg PadKONTROL. PadKontrol the most responsive pad controller in my experience. The MPD24 is cool if want the extra sliders, but the pads on the PadKONTROL are waaaaaay more responsive. Good luck...

Cheers..Is it easy to change the set of your 16 pads to the next GURU engine with PadKONTROL ?? as some of my GURU loops have around 5-6 Engines going and i like to change quickly

I havent tried the padkontrol, but i own an mpd24 and guru and its like they were made to go together. Just flick over to the preset and there you go. In addition, When i use Guru within a daw, i set it to midi channel 11 and it controls whatever engines in view.

Although, one thing thats frustrating about the mpd is that you have to hit directly in the middle of the pad otherwise it doesnt pick up.

Compared to triggerfinger, mpd24 feels a lot more like an instrument.Built quality is way, way better and sturdier.

If you set the MPD (or padKontrol) and Live to pass MIDI thru to Guru on channel 11, it will play whichever engine is currently on the screen.

Having owned all 3:-

MPD advantages:- six faders, eight knobs, a full transport, great editing straight from the front panel, built like a tank compared to most controllers.

MPD disadvantages:- heavy for mobile settings, feels like it weighs 2x the Korg.

padKontrol advantages:- OK build quality, flashy illuminated pads, XY controller.

padKontrol disadvantages:- only 2 knobs, no faders, need to use the librarian software to set it up.

Trigger Finger advantages:- cheap, lightweight, plenty of knobs and faders.

Trigger Finger disadvantages:- slightly flimsy build quality - fader heads tend to fall off, the pads are a bit spongey compared to the others, and whoever named the editor software "Enigma" has a sense of humour.. "enigmatic" is a great way to describe it.

Personally, I'd go for the MPD every time unless size and weight are an issue.

Thanxx Guys.. seems like the M-audio is not in the battle anymore so its a case of Padcontrol or MPD.. (I already have the Novation remote SL61 and the older x-session by the way) so i have both knobs sliders and X/Y pad

I don't know about the comment that you need the librarian software to set it up. I haven't even installed the librarian software and I have mine doing pretty much everything I need it to.

It's very easy to change which notes each of the pads send. I've been pretty content with the velocity curves and such, so I haven't messed with them too much, but if I wanted to, I could do it directly on the unit.
