M Box 2 Question

Does anyone know: if I plug my M Box 2 in and run Live without Protools fired up, do I benefit from extra processing power? Is there a way to tap that resource if not? What other external hardware processing options are there?

None of the Mbox or DIGI line give you extra processing power nor have DSP or anything like that. That's ProTools HD exclusive. ProTools LE is just software, which needs the memory and processing power your computer can provide, and the Mbox is just a soundcard which also needs processing power to run the driver.

Unless you get something really high end, you'll be relying only on what your computer can provide.

Thanx for reply.

I've installed the stand alone CoreAudio driver for the MBox 2 and the latency in Live is improved and the buffer sizes are in controlled increments (8, 16, 32, etc.) Am I nuts?[/quote]

what were you using before?

different soundcards have different drivers, thus give different latencies and performance.

Antes estaba usando el sound card que vino dentro del Powerbook G4. Ahora tengo el MBox 2 conectado.

So you were using the onboard soundcard before you connected the MBox2...

Nope, you are not! Thats the way the core audio driver for M-box works apparently... I have the first m-box and it does the same...
