Live corrupts files!

I was working on a project a week or two ago, left it completely untouched until
today, and when I tried to open it now, Live froze completely, I had to forcibly
terminate the app (ctrl+alt+del) and reboot the computer - it was impossible
to end the Live *process*, so if I tried to restart Live after ending it, nothing
happened. I've tried opening the backup from my external HD, I've tried
previously saved versions from the same project - nothing works. Live simply
freezes. This has happened twice before as well, but then the projects were of
no major importance. This time, a *lot* of work has been lost.

I suspect that this happens when I do the following (I cannot know for sure that
this is what I've done the previous times, but I know I did it now):
1 I work on a project, rewired to Reason - everything is fine.
2 I decide to work on something else, and quit Reason.
3 I click 'file', and choose a project from the "previous" list in Live.
4. Live freezes, as described above, and, apparently, all saved versions in the
project I want to work on are unreadable.

Am I the *only* one experiencing this? I cannot live like this, spending
hours upon hours making music, only to have everything ruined like this.

FWIW, my computer is brand new, offline all the time, and with an absolute
minimum of software installed.

I don't even dare to open any other projects now, in fear of losing them as
well... :(

first thing to try is to delete your preferences.cfg file (search for it in windows explorer)

Really? Does that mean I'll have to set up everything (controllers, etc.) again?
It's odd though, that the problem only occurs with a select few projects...

I am unclear as exactly what you mean by Projects are unreadable, but i though I would throw this possibility out there in case it might help.
Are you using any Vst's or AU's?. if you are, another thing to check would be to, remove he Plugin from the folders live scans and see if you project will then open and run. if you find a culprit , try reinstalling the plugin.

Thanks for the tips - I tried both suggestions - to no avail. That is, I deleted
the config file, which also makes Live lose track of the VSTs. I opened the file
in question, and Live froze, just like before. How typical that I'm the only one
having this problem...
