Hey guys -

Any recommendations for a decent desk/table - i would like to sit facing my laptop, but i also have a full size keyboard - i don't really want to lean across it to get to my keyboard... So possibly a solution with the synth to my right - an L shaped desk?!

Anyway - anyone found anything nice just checked out Ikea and cant see anything (whatever happened to that desk with the fold out speaker shelves?!).

Rooms about 9ft wide by around 10ft long. I also want to get a settee in there and some storage shelves for vinyl... Ultimatly id like the desk in the middle of the room with speaker stands a couple foot back from my desk/seat.... but that might be a bit ambitious  So a desk that can give me enough space between my monitors , and have them around head height a must!

what i did i just got two regular two-level keyboard stands. and two 35cm wooden shelves to put on the top levels. then i angled the top levels to the side, so that the working surface is at the comfortable height and just put the shelves on=) and voila, i have space for 2 keyboards and quite alot of the flat surface to house monitors, controllers, small mixer and breakfast=)

I have a Quicklok keyboard stand which you can add shelves and extras onto. So I have shelf for my powerbook and second monitor and arms holding keyboard & also have keyboard & mouse on a different level.

I have build stands and tables before depending on the spaces I've had available. Considering doing the same with my new studio space.

There are a variety of items like that available from a few places, check the studio furniture sections of DV247.com and turnkey, that's where I've seen them before.

Al depends on how much cash you want to splash.

Ikea - Stolmen + Stolmen shoe racks. Ikea - Rast for the rack gear. Can also be freestanding in room.

I knew a lot of people were in the closet here but this adds a whole new meaning to the phrase.

Yeah wtf, so you play your gear whilst standing in the closet? Sheesh, and I thought my studio was cramped!

Actually it works out better this way. I used to have a pretty sizable corner desk and wasn't totally happy with as the cabling etc started to get messy.
Withthis solution I have everything within reach while sitting down. BTW I have moved the phatty onto the shoe rack and move the xb09 etc down one tier. So now, with the left hand I can play the moog while working the mnm or 101 with with my right hand.

I really, really do like this setup a lot better than a desk for the space (and wife!!!) I have to work with. Everything is within reach. Also, adding new shelves/tiers is pretty cheap and simple now.

For now, I'm still pondering whether to mount the l/r monitors on either side of the closet.

Chhers,

c

How sad. The Jerker is the perfect, affordable audio desk. I love mine!
