Aaaagh! Live 6 crashing, work irrecoverable

I suspect there's nothing I can do, but I've just lost 12 hours of work: Live brought up the 'a serious error has occurred - Live will finish when you close this box' message (it doesn't close when I click 'OK', though, which seems odd). I thought I was being clever by saving my work with two alternating file names, so that if one was corrupted, the other'd be fine. But neither of them open.

Any suggestions? It may well be the VST plug-ins I have, so I've cleared out all the rubbish ones, just in case. But is there *anything* I can do to recover the lost work?

All help and suggestions gratefully received - I'm new to Live and this is the second time I've lost all my work, and I'm seriously thinking of stopping using the program if it's going to keep doing this :(

you should check the live prefs arent corrupted, copy 'em then trash 'em.
try the vst plugin thing.
(on the mac) u can also find crashed songs in the folder:

usr/ library/ preferences/ ableton/ crash:

I've hardly ever had corrupted songs in live, in fact i struggle to remember the last time this happened to me. So this shouldnt be happening very often at all...

Thanks for the suggestions, Justin. I took all the plug-ins out, and the files opened fine, so now it's a matter of popping them back one by one until it all crashes again. At least it's a comfort that the files themselves weren't corrupt. I have a suspicion that a rather nice free one called Daedalus is the culprit. Shame.

cheers matey!

yep its a PITA when that happens, and a good reason to keep the number of plugins to a minimum!
