Allo
I was wondering how you folk generally come across new music? From magazines / radio / friends? What sort of thing are you into, and how do you keep up with what's new? How do you find out what's old and good?
I tend to be pretty passive: just sorta hang around other more musically knowledgeable people and steal their stuff! Though myspace has been changing that recently, as did the Pandora website.

I find most of it utter crap, especially the billions of tracks produced by the billlions of bedroom 'producers'.
It makes me go back to the music I really love with a fresh appreciation, though. Pandora is superb for unearthing unknown gems from the past.

I just got turned on to this Sunday. VERY VERY exciting. I wish I knew what link we listened to, but it was the most entertaining/inspiring night of music ...Dubstep on the reggae side. Yah, I know I'm a little behind the boat...

I hope I'm not the last person alive to get new music this way, but I walk down the road to my record shop and ask the guy who works there if he's got anything new that he thinks I'll like...

You're just old and jaded. There's always been loads of crap released, the art of a dj particularly is finding the stuff that's good.
Mainly, I go to record shops and rummage around and talk to the people there.
I also keep an eye on what comes out via the new releases on juno etc etc. Myspace can be useful too.
I also hang around on music specific mailing lists and forums.

tssk kids these days.....
a shop that sells big round black things that contain something like your "ringtones".
be careful though when you find one you like you'll give them all your spare money
