I wonder how that shit works period, vstack has always been crap for stability, if they got out all the bugs could be very nice though

"ReWire 2 support: audio channels can be sent from a ReWire-compatible application to V-STACK for effects and EQ processing"

i wonder if this means its only kinda half duplex rewire

Sure it is only a ReWire master - or do you think steinberg would allow you to use their VSTis with anything else then Cubase - especially on the mac???

Come on :P

Isn't half the point of having a mac coming up with new and creative ways to do things you aren't supposed to be able to do... and then say things to the pc guys 'look what I can do' :)

Hi.....Maybe you would like to consider Energy Xt(used to be called massiva)....it is effectively a whole audio and midi studio with very low resource use considering what it lets you do....asio 2 midi sync....arpeggiators,unlimited bussing and routing,if I recall. It works as a plug in FX!(put this in Ableton...you can slave vsti's within the Fx Plugin and use it's considerable routing)...it also works as standalone or vsti....you will be shocked at what it can do when you start using it...it's very robust with the author being very active and it costs a pittance for what you get..39 Euro.(49 from April and the asking price is still a joke)The demo is fully functional...you just can't reload your setups.

I received the recent update to Vstack...and it's only Vst master as you say...I thought it would be 2 way...I guess it is only effectively half duplex after all...wtf!ok great fine and the update was free but I thought it would be better the other way around.....I mean V stack as the master and Ableton as the slave!!!...big dissapointment....I've been waiting for about 16 months for this update...it's a mixer for heavens sake....Ableton (or any other main prog for that matter) with Vstack slaved with Vsti's and VstFx and all that Bus routing...the power is brilliant but not to be right now...guess we will have to ask Steinberg for slave support(hopefully it won't be another year plus)....I find it really buggers up Ableton as well....Sorry to hear that energy Xt is limited for you....it seems to work ok for me with vstis and Fx getting tempo sync ok.....one other alternative whilst not exactly cheap but fairly good on resources is Project 5...I have this slaved to Ableton and it is a beast and it's rock solid....bounce and grab in Ableton...or go mad with Fx Freeze(not in Pro 5) to squeeze even more power out of my middle of the road P4 1700 with 512 meg....unfortunately the bussing and functionality is very limited and I think this will not be improved until maybe V2....it's the only real big weak spot in P5 right now(in fact it's pitiful for such a powerful prog).....I guess handing over some of the bussing, routing and functionality etc from sonar 3 will come(I hope so anyway)....one thing though...when P5 is slaved I've had some problems with tempo sync of some plugs(I believe this is something to do with the plugs particular implementation of reading sync...or so I have been told from some of the developers\authors).Anyway maybe Ableton has Routing, bussing, mixing and Vsti support for A4????

well i tried the new version of energyxt and it seemed very stable runnin as a vst fx in live

so i bought it

jorgen has stated somewhere that the sync to master thingy is coming very soon so hopefully it will make me a happy chappy again :)

then all i want is ableton to fix it so i can record the output of the ext straight into a clip

and then
and then
and then
and then

laterz

Plogue bidule is the thing for using rewired vst's (or au's in the latest test version) Check it out at www.plogue.com Bidule works as a rewire slave (or master), and it has all sorts of processing power
