Hi

I running a Mac 0S 9. I am tring to run live in rewire slave mode using protools le and this is what happens ....

I open up protools first followed by opening abelton live then when I switch to protools an error comes up that reads

"Protools is unable to reaquire the hardware because it is in use by another program. Please quit that program and then hit "ok". If the hardware can't be freed, Pro Tools can't continue to run. In this event, hit "Quit."

when hitting quit this pops up

" Protools hardware is either not installed or used by another program."

The only thing I changed in abelton was the device type from Sound manager to Direct I/O but when I change it back protools opens up fine with live but ableton doesnt show up in the my plug ins (I tring to find it using a stereo Aux track)

also, How do you go about recording live instruments into abelton live? I am using a digi 001, I am getting a signal from abelton but I just cant record anything.

At first, only since version 6.1 ProTools has support for ReWire. But the 6.x versions are running only on OS X or Windows XP. So it is not possible to use ProTools as ReWire master on OS 9.

"Direct I/O" is Digidesign owns software interface to access Digidesign hardware. When you run Live using "Direct I/O" at the same time like ProTools it will result in this kind of hardware conflict because you cannot share the hardware between two applications.

Concerning the recording, when you run Live standalone you should able to play/record with the Digi001.

1. Be sure that the "In/out view" is showed up. (Menu --> View --> In/Out)
2. In the track where you want to record select "Live In" in the in 'Input Type' chooser.
3. In the 'Input channel' chooser below, select the desired channel
4. Arm the track (click on the 4th button)
5. Click on one of the red reecord buttons in any scene to start rcording...
