live, timecode, dv camera?

Does anybody know if it is possible to sink live with a mini dv camera? It would make my life a tad bit easier. Say tracking out audio in live and when i hit record "presto" the camera fires up or vice versa. This would be done pref. through firewire. Cheers Mike
