Hi,

Just curious if anyone tried any of the NI audio interfaces? Such as the Audio 8 DJ ->

If it´s as bad as the Audio Kontrol 1 don´t even look at it.

The AK1 is one of the worst buy I´ve ever made. Plus the "service center" soft that NI is using for registering, updating, etc, is a PITA.

I used Kore 1 on mac (the controller acts as an audio interface) and it sucked sooo badly. I wouldn't trust a NI interface.

FWIW -

On the contrary, I have used an Audio Kontrol 1 for six months, and I find it excellent - sound is pristine, and absolutely no problems....

Here on ableton forum i make very great review of AK1 some time ago, but after some time using this card, finally sell this TOY, audio KONTROL 1 , drop the audio under OSX some tmes, and under Vista or XP its really NON usable.

DONT BUY THIS NI CARD, IF NEED RELIABLE SOUND CARD FOR WORK LIVE!!!!!!! .

IF CAN TOLERATE DROPS ON YOUR STUDIO, the sound OF AK1 its really good.........and the price of this usb card is really low.

About this new unit, the first impresions i see googling are the same, PROBLEMS PROBLEMAS AND MORE PROBLEMS !!

Buys Presonus, Focusrite, Motu, or if need cheap card buy the wonderfull M-AUDIO FAST TRACK PRO

As I said, I have had NO problems at all with intensive studio and live use (with Live) under Windows XP service pack 2, with the latest drivers....

It sounds great!

Your mileage may vary.... (apparently for some it does), but then I'm a musician, well, ok, a guitarist, not a DJ........:-)

Note: I don't have Kore - I purchased the unit stand-alone and use it with Live 6, Sonar PE 6, and Fruity Loops (along with a lot of other stuff from Cakewalk)..

Yea, I had this same problem on Powerbook. Well, actually the audio just got distorted after a while and didn't get normal again. It could also be software fault, though, because Kore was fairly new back then.

But again, this was on Kore audio card but I assume they have more or less the same stuff inside.

Audio 8 DJ Interface

:D Since I bought Live so far I had no problems using Audio 8 DJ with it. I could connect 4 ins and 4 outs with it plus I plug in my Midi M-Audio controller to it and sometimes a mic or instrument will running live. You can use any of the ins to record. Ableton Live seems to easy recognize the Audio 8 and sync with it. I had no problems so far except a few which you can tweak. You can't use Audio 8 DJ when you have your Anti virus enabled and your wi-fi/wireless connection on. You have to disable them before plugging in the Audio 8 DJ interface to the USB. The good thing with Audio 8 DJ is you can use it with Ableton Live with the best Audio Latency setting for no drop outs or problems. Of course you have to disable the Anti virus and your WI-FI wireless connection. I usually do a 4 hour set with it and so far no problems. I use Trackor Scratch with Ableton Live simultaneously and no problems with Audio 8 DJ.

My set up (Arsenal): Tractor Scratch (Spinning) and Ableton Live (Remixing/Producing/Mash-Ups/Effects). 2 CDJs 1000mk2, Stanton (3 Channel Tecno Mixer), and HP (PC) laptop 2.0 Gz, 120 gigs, 1 G of Ram, Audio 8 DJ Interface, M-Audio O2 Compact.

Says who? I've used both Kore and AK1 with my XP systems for quite a while; in fact, Kore's my interface 95% of the time...

Cool, thanks for that reply. I must admit I like the look of it.

I have an AK 1, I'm not that happy with it. The latency is higher than it should be and I get dropouts in Live.

Daurix, what OS you use?
Latency configured to what value?
