Hi. I was hoping someone could help me. I know that naming a scene with the desired tempo (i.e. 120 BPM) will cause the scene to change to that tempo when the scene is played...but is there a way to change the meter upon scene change?
For example...I want one scene to be 4/4 and the next scene to be in 6/8 immediately upon scene change.
Is this possible?

nope, Live doesn't formally handle meter changes.

Has anyone come up with a workaround or the best method to quickly program a meter change?

nope.

there's been a lot of arguing about this, some people say it makes Live unusable, the other extreme argues that they just write in whatever meter they want ignoring what the computer thinks.

what problem are you coming up with that you can't write in odd meters? what would the computer do when it changes meter? the only thing it would change is the metronome, and groove settings if you use those.

I was really just hoping it was possible for the sake of speed and convenience in a live performance setting.

I have a live set which contains a few separate songs. Each song is a separate scene. All of the songs are in 4/4 except for one that is in 6/8. I was hoping to be able to seamlessly switch between songs with one click.

However, the 6/8 song poses the problem. I was looking for the quickest way to switch to and from the 6/8 song.

why is that a problem? the audio plays the same.

if it's too fast, rewarp the song, that will change the bpm by how much?? (quiz question)

Sorry. I should have explained. It's a problem because I would be routing the built-in metronome to a drummer. The meter/tempo would need to match the audio.

I suppose I will just have to pre-record the click track and not use the built-in metronome.

yeah, that makes sense now. the metronome goes out of the CUE output, as set on the right side of Live. ANY track in Live can be sent out that same output, so you can turn off the metronome and make your own metronomes for 4/4 and 6/8 and drop them in each scene on a track that's routed out to the drummer, separate from the master out. sounds like you've already got it though, my $0.02.

Yes, when you rename the scene include the time signature on the label

Example:

120bpm 4/4 Intro
133bpm 6/8 Bridge
111bpm 5/4 Outro
