I've been using Live since ver 3 and last night this is the first time this has happend to me. Just for the record, I had been burning the midnight oil, using Live for about 8 hours or so, straight.

I'm getting some high pitched static noise. My CPU is only running about 45-50%. It's NOT that characteristic crackling noise you get when your CPU is too high. I'd say it's more of a hissy static that's way up there around 12khz and above I'd guess. It can happen just soloing any of my tracks or playing all the tracks together. There are no effects or plugins on the master that could be causing it.

Sometimes if I stop the set and start again, it goes away. Sometimes even if I do that, the hissy static remains. I've restarted my computer and soundcard, checked sampling rate, cleared the cache. Then it will come back again randomly and go away randomly...Sometimes relaunching Live and reloading the set again will help, sometimes not.

It's not predictably reproduceable under the same circumstances each time it happens. And it didn't happen all the time.

Has this happened to any of you?

YES! This has been happening to me as well. Only sometimes, though, and I haven't seen a pattern. It's a loud static sound that plays for about a half second or so at random points.

Have you noticed any patterns? Still having the problem? What computer/soundcard are you using? I'm on a dell inspiron 9400 2ghz duocore, 2mb ram, mackie onyx F firewire soundcard.

It did it for a few days and then stopped. I haven't noticed the problem since a few days after I posted. But I was working my cpu pretty hard in 90+ degree temp without air cond. It's the end of the summer and the temp has gone down, so perhaps my cpu is not overheating. This is just a guess for the cause but overheating is my best guess so far why it was happening.

you aren't using ANY plugins anywhere that could be in demo mode?

No, I have a couple demos in my plugin folder but they were not being used at the time the static noise happened. Also, those few demos I do have in my plugin folder use saving, pattern, etc limitations, not intermittent noise.

But, I know what you mean by that sound that a demo makes, but this static noise doesn't sound like that at all.
