Novation Remote SL 25 Help! (Have a gig saturday!)

hey peeps

updated the OS to 3.1 on my novation yesterday

just went to open up ableton for a session and i've noticed that the second row of knobs and buttons (on the left hand side, the user definable ones) aren't being recognised as MIDI CC's in Live, even though the midi is showing as going into live by the indicators in the top right hand side of the screen.

has anyone had a similar problem? i'm looking to fix it asap as you can see i have a gig on saturday and use these controllers for some key funcitons, like tempo, sends, eq's etc

so any help would be really appreciated!

Cheers

Paul

you have to set them up to send something, hit edit and an encoder, you'll see it's reset.

search for posts from RJ Dubya on the SL, he's got it pretty well mastered.

i will do mate

just frustrating as i've just got a load of new plugins so updated so i could automap with them!

i'll search for dubya's posts, i've tried the edit thing but its having no effect, might have to get onto novation about it if i don't sort it by tomorrow night! eek!

go back to the last rev of software, ver 3 is much more complicated than ver 2, to take advantage of ver 3's features you'd want at least a week to get into it.

cut and run!!

yeah i noticed that with the whole server program it installed, probs best to flop back to v2 for the gig and then upgrade again later and see what the vibe is then!

thanks for the help dude! :D

well it was a nice plan but....

i've just tried to reinstall version 2 onto my mac and the keyboard, but its not taking the downgrade for some reason

install goes ok on the mac

but when it comes to switch the remote on and take the templates for that version, it just wont connect...keeps asking me to switch it on, even though its already n and connected

tried several times to no avail

now i'm really stuck!

HELP! :p

awe shit!! so sorry man!!

template 40 in ver 3 is the same from ver 2, at least in functionality, I have ver 3 and really just use template 40 and it's just like it was before. can you use template 40?

shit...

i can use everything else but the assignable buttons and rotaries on the right absolutely fine

for some strange reason the MIDI's going in, the CC numbers are the same as in the previous template....but they're just not moving or controlling anything!

i'm going to have to phone novation support tomorrow...i'm toast unless i can sort it, as my sets vary in tempo quite drastically and i use the rotaries to adjust tempo etc

oooooo dear...

is it still set up as a control surface in the preferences and all that?

oh absolutely EVERYTHING is as it should be

but the controllers arent....erm, controlling?

as i said the midi's going out its being received by ableton quite clearly, but its not getting to the perameter i want to control (i hae everything st up as a template when i first open live)

so i'm at a bit of aloss as to what to do other then try and find a way of resetting the keyboard itself back to factory settings then reinstalling v2 to get me past this gig!

so it's not working with the stuff you midi learned into Live?

does automap work?

glad I didn't talk you into hanging yourself before the show.

nah mate i'll find a way around it

a bad workman always blames his tools!

i've uploaded the factory settings, but i think the installer for v2 isnt working because i've still got 3.1 on there

will get rid of 3.1 and let you know how i get on!

there's hope yet! :D

GOT IT!

after much rigmaroll, and reinstalling 3.1's sysex commands to the unit thru Sysex Librarian, i've foun id was an issue with my midi I/O settings within Live

Basically because of the way that the remote is working in version 3.1, you've gotta activate 'remote' for the ports active for the SL

phew! now i can hit the hay! :)

thanks for you help though tone, kept me raaaather sane there to say the least! :)

cheers!
