Can anyone out there help me discover why my gateway laptop is not recognizing the drivers for my m-audio firewire 410...? I have installed the drivers many times, turned the laptop off, plugged in the firewire, and restarted the laptop..but the drivers are never there..

Anybody?

what version of windows? is it the one that came with the laptop - in other words, ae you SURE that th drivers for your machine that control the firewire bus are installed properly?

for example, if you're one of the many who got a new laptop with vista then wiped it and put on XP, then you'd probably have to download a bunch of XP drivers for it

hey thanks for your help..no, i have a simple standard xp operating system...the software installation says that "you must reboot your computer" for the settings to take effect..but when i do this there is no firewire present....jim

are you using external power on the card? can you tell if it's on. silly question but it's such a major fault...

yeah I saw that thread - just not the Hoff version

power supply comes directly from the laptop..machine works fine...light is on..but does not show up on computer..j

most PCs dont have 6 pin FW, I guess yours must if the light's coming on

but I suggest you try using the 410s own power supply
