EMU 1820 HELP!!!

Hello everyone.
I'm having a problem with using my EMU1820 card with live 6 and i'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm sure its an easy problem to fix and its most likely me doing something wrong. Okay heres the problem... Everything sounds
fine and audio is recording fine but the panning doesn't work in my monitors. On live i can see that the levels show that the sound is panned but on my monitors i hear it in stereo. What am i doing wrong? I did change the settings on the EMU and got the panning to work but then i couldnt record audio.
