Recording two tracks simultaneously

I've tried to find the answer to this in the manual and in a forum search, but failed to locate an one.

How do you enable two separate tracks for simultaneous mono recordings?

For example: I wanted to record an acoustic guitar in stereo. I'm using a Fireface as my audio interface, so when I go to select inputs into live, I'm offered the option of doing a mono recording or a stereo recording on a single track (That is to say, when I click on my menu of audio input options, I can select individual inputs, or I can select the input option "7+8" to make a stereo recording. I hope that is clear. A stereo recording made by enabling a single track in Live.

However, I wanted to record stereo using two separate mono tracks. When I went to record enable the tracks I could only do one at a time. I would record enable the first track, then when I tried to record enable the second track, the first track turned off the record enable! So I was totally unable to have two tracks rolling at the same time.

Can anyone help me with this? I find it hard to believe that you can't do multi-track recording in Live, so I'm assuming I've just missed something and would appreciate any help that could be offered.

many thanks,

Geoffrey

Thanks for the replies guys (or gals).

I did actually look in the manual for the answer to this, octatone. I'd bet there are not many people who having read the manual, actually remember the whole thing, or even where to go looking for some tidbit of info. I read the manual when I got Live, eventually forgot about 90% of it, and then cruised through the index and different sections looking for the answer to this one. I must have missed it.

However, as always, being called a liar (even with a smiley face) has been really helpful. I suppose the price of admission to getting assistance must be paid, and a bit of what I hope is good-natured chaffing seems worth it, despite my discomfort with having that word used on me (I'm actually a very truthful person).

Unless of course that is your signature at the bottom of the post...
