I for one encourage it, because it just clears out old stock they need to get rid of for Sampler 2. Clear out those old warehouses I say, bring on the new! Bravo!

I think they should adopt a Audio Damage price policy - low prices but sampler, operator and maybe other new significant plugins as extra products and lower the update prices. (ok, that might make support a hell, so it might be better to include everything .... those things are really complicated like hell .... whatever you do you do it wrong :) )

didn't previous versions of Logic already come with an assload more free plug-ins that Live?

if you want a sampler, you pay more, you get more. if you can get more fun out of a cheaper sampler than Sampler, then buy the other one.

I already own operator and sampler, should I get pissed if you get it for free?

if you can't afford it, here's Neb's credit card info

5896 6725 1543 5514
secret code on the back is 164
it's a Visa card (platinum corporate account)
bill it to his law firm - Dewey Cheatem and Howe.

Why so much whining and comparing Logic to Live? It's apples and oranges... Photoshop and Illustrator... Word and Excel. One's a DAW, the other a live performance instrument, although there is some stuck-on crossover functionality.

Also, Apple can afford to sell Logic for a loss-leader price. They'll make up for it with the zillions of iPod/iPhone/Mac/etc sales. Why can't people have the basic common sense to realize that maybe Ableton can't do that?

Logic competes with many other DAWs that more or less do the same thing. Anyone found a cheaper application with Live's functionality? Go and buy it!

I for one don't feel the need to pay for everyone else's Operator and Sampler when I don't need them.

Some people would f*cking bitch and moan if you hung 'em with a new rope...

the thread seemed to be fueled from Logic threads and their offerings, users are kicking Live's price around. I hope they win.

still, if you want a sampler, shop around.

i suppose it s time we all go out and shout

GO AND BUY F******* LOGIC 8 IF YOU THINK ITS BETTER

I can't stand this howling anymore. Logic 8 has a minimum 1000€ Dongle.
The quality of its plugs can be reached with freeware plugs easily.
So...get lost, Logic 8...you have your own forums...this is about

ABLETON LIVE here...!!!!!!

So...get lost, Logic 8...you have your own forums...this is about
-1... actually it's 500€, no dongle, and it's plugs are far superior to freeware equivilents on the mac, esp. the exs24. Since you have to pay extra for live's "premium" instruments, that's why the howling will persist for quite some while.

So I guess you break even on this post. :) Although I do agree with you... logic is good at what logic does, and I wish people would keep such discussions on logic forums. Alas, it's not the first time we've tried to stop getting people to talk about useless crap and focus on live (9/11 conspiracies, forum drama queens, etc.).

I can't take credit for that, it's a closing catch phrase from these guys

a call in radio show, they know cars REALLY well, how to fix, what to get, all that and are total smart asses. if you're into cars, check out a broadcast, two brothers from Boston, 'The Ratchet Brothers' very funny stuff. almost like a Top Gear for the radio but without the supercars and The Stig.
