midi clock sending

I'm totally confused and don't find answers , but maybe my prob is too simple, i don't know.
I would like live to send midi clock even without playing scenes or pushing the play button.
I want just to play my external gear as well as my vst-synths in perfect sync and need midiclock to sync arpeg on external synths and so.
I configured live to send midi clock to every midi connector on my edirol um-88 , but i only can transmit this midi clock when a scene is playing or pushing the play button ... but i want live to send these midi clock events even when there is nothing playes , can i do this ???

Welcome!
Why can't you leave Live playing? Otherwise, there's nothing to send (including MIDI clock).

maybe this sounds strange , but i just want to play along with midi timing for arpeg and lfo on external synths
If I let live play then it plays sequences i don't need , i don't know if i'm clear about that...
So i want to rehearse first before i record the sequences , but also then i need the midi timing ... and also without having to let live play sequences... every hardware synth can sent midi clock without having to play sequence , live does not ????

Maybe I'm missing something here...
Live can play with no clips running. Just hit the spacebar.
Nothing will be happening except MIDI clock.

Part of MIDI beat clock are start and stop commands.
If a sequencer transmitted MIDI beat clock at all times, you could never stop a song, or start a song.
Make an empty scene and "play" it, like the people said.

Yes in fact I understand that , but my vsynth hardware synth can send midi clock without playing sequences ...
I was just wondering if live could do this , but apparently not

I'm still not convinced this should not be integrated into live...
After a bit of experimentation i found out that my XP-80 workstation from roland is doing exaclty what i want...
In this workstation there is also a sequencer integrated and even when the sequencer is not running or recording midi time code is send to to all the devices ... and the start stop and continue code is also send when you push their buttons ...
So i really don't understand why this is not possible with live
anyone any comments on that ???
kind regards
