Is it the processor

My notebooks is fairly new, reformated to winxp profession student edition.. very clean
I have an amd turion 64 mobile - 1.99 ghz
I get into problems once I start working with 3/4 channels of vstis/vsts
Is that normal? I've used winxpnet tweaks - I even have 2gigs of ram.. Why am I experiencing an awkward crunching crappy delay when I want to launch clips? It's not all the time.. but usually if it's the first time for launching clips/new clips
Also I use a notebook sound blaster 2zs card which supports 24bit sound and has it's own asio drivers . I get good latency most of the time..
But still I get those lame errors; I see the processor bar shoot up once it starts recovering from the deadly crunch delay
