"Create Analysis Files" Do I really need this on?

(File/Folder Preferences Menu)

Lets say I put a wav in a clip, does live analyze that wav every time the clip is played, or only when the project is opened or only when the clip plays for the first time?

Same goes for simpler/sampler/impulse.. Does Live have to analyze the wav every time the sample is played?

better on than off,

.asd files contain your pitch and warp settings that save when you click "save"

also, when you render a track with a tempo change, it will be warped correctly when you create the analysis file.

this saves you from future headaches, trust me.

Leave it on. The file it creates is tiny and as was mentioned it will save you from having to rewarp it again.

Problem is that it creates asd files even for short samples such as drum hits which will never be warped. Then it leaves these asd files in my sample folder on my hard disk and creates a lot of clutter.

I guess there is not a way to selectively create asd files?

Is there a good solution so that I don't have these asd files all over my drum hit samples folder?

I don't know if anyone really knows whats in these files besides warp info. I always suspected the waveform peaks were also saved in their for quick drawing.

my preference is to leave it to off, so for previews it does not create the .asd and when i need it, i manually create it with the save option in the sample box.
