Logic 8 Excitement Fading

Seems the initial reaction to Logic 8 has cooled considerably.
I guess AL is cool again. Whew, that was scary.

that's a shame as live is so inspirational as a composition tool. but as soon as i start trying to layout a track in arrange view i find it really shows its weaknesses in that area. anyway, i agree that the two tools make a great combination.Zerobae wrote:in the de:bug interview somebody posted here recently, gerhard said they're actually starting to drop features from live. which to me sounds like focus on what live does best -- so live and logic will make for a great combo, imho.
do you know what, pat the dog wrote:i'm not sure about that. i think i'll be using logic more and more for typical DAW tasks.
i was really hoping for an overhaul of live's arrange window in version 7, but that seems to have dropped off the radar. which is fine of course for a performance tool, but for regular production work, i reckon logic will be getting a lot more attention.

I tend to do the exact opposite of thiswilxon wrote: Record the loops in live and then arrange in logic.
The new Logic has been the best seller of all logic versions in the time its been released. I guess yoru worried that people will like Logic and maybe even new users will buy it or switch to it instead of AL. That will happen just look at the price features and whats included with Logic compared to AL. Ableton makes you pay for their sound samples and synths Apple doesnt. I personally find having to pay for samples that should come with my daw a bit rich.pierce200 wrote:Seems the initial reaction to Logic 8 has cooled considerably.

I personally think that this time around, it has got out of control. I never thought I would say this... but it looks to me like time to migrate. Logic is tempting, but would involve switching everything over to mac, which is less appealing overall. But there's always programmes like Tracktion, Reaper, FL Studio... hell, even Samplitude is now cheaper than Live.mercyplease wrote: I personally find having to pay for samples that should come with my daw a bit rich.
just to be the devils advocate - the upgrade to Live 7 is only $119 and you actually get alot for thatheadquest wrote:I think it's weird what you get with Logic 8 compared to Live 7 in terms of the amount you pay...
If I was on mac, or about to upgrade my computer, I would go with Logic in a heartbeat right now. I'm in shock about Live 7 - not because of the new features this time, but because of the cost of all those packages.
Talk about Live is going to increasingly revolve around how expensive it is for what you get.

I don't see that at all. In fact, now that we can see Ableton's road map more clearly it may focus more attention on Logic. Personally I'll definitely have to think about upgrading to Live 7 or sticking with 6 and picking up Logic.pierce200 wrote:Seems the initial reaction to Logic 8 has cooled considerably.
