Following "Recording Audio" tutorial in Live 6 - no sound!

I did search the forum for help, but found nothing. This has something to do with setting up Live to record a track when using an ASIO driver. I have my sound all set up to use ASIO4All. I see the green bars moving when I arm and then record a track. But playblack is super quiet - I can't hear anything unless I turn my sound up all the way and then there's a loud hissing noise in the foreground. I have all the inputs/outputs set at their defaults, and I just need to know what I should set them to considering I'm using the ASIO4All driver.

Appreciate your help -

Hi,

It would be useful to know what soundcard you use and what is the source you are recording. Some microphones and instruments need specific pre-amps and that could be one problem. There are other possibilities.

I have a Turtle Beach Catalina with the latest drivers. The only sets I'm using are the ones you use when you're following along with the "Recording Sound" tutorial. I assume it has something to do with the input/output types and channels.

Even weirder now... I just started up Live again and dropped in a drum clip. Plays loud and clear! But the "Recording Audio" set still has the same issue. Huh?

Hi,

Depending what you record with your soundcard (microphone? Instrument?), you may have to adjust the input volume, in your soundcard's control panel or something.

When you arm the track as explained in Live tutorial, and play or sing, you should see the green meters move. If they reach close to "0" (just before turning red), you'll get a loud enough signal.
