Elastic Audio in ProTools

What now Ableton Live?

does it include a dialog box and a limit on how much you can stretch audio in LE with the promise of almost endless stretching if you ever pool enough money for an HD system?

Well, nice demo - there protools can really show of its audio editing superiority quite some other systems.

I would consider this not so much touching Live - as audio editing is live, well, if one likes it .....

In the creative department live still has some nice features (MIDI control, clip envs, etc.)

It's funny because with Digidesign, this is so true.

I mean, yeah, the HD systems are great and all, but how many people really need that much? I am thinking that 99.99% of people making music have no need for even an HD1 system, much less an HD3 system and an ICON and all that other stuff they have.

Some pretty damn nice editing tricks shown by the product tech in that SonicState demo I must confess .

That AES demo had the biggest crowd on the floor, probably bigger than all other software manufacturers combined. We quickly glanced at it and ran to support our dear Ableton at their boothlet... (and pester Gerhard about missing features. )

I know that a lot of producers use Live to audition in tempo, alongside Live... Ableton *will* lose a few customers over this. Just probably not that many, that's all.

the missing features are not so much the problem - the half-heartly implemented are more disg ..... IMHO .....

Ableton is sleeping and loosing its advantages against competitors step by step.

one of my old feature whish:

improve elastik audio in case of quality and complexity adding inteligent pitch shifting to edit grooves and phrases similar as Melodyne

I still don't think Ableton have anything to worry about. Live is a very creative tool, could you imagine trying to do a live PA with Pro Tools?! I love my little Pro Tools rig, but for creativity there's still nothing to top Live.

Yes, I must admit the same. Being able to warp media directly in the arrangement is a nice touch, and the sound quality seemed to be good (though over a flash player, who can really tell?). While I value the flexibility of live's warping engine, the way digi did it seemed to be much more "pratically oriented".

So while I'm not rushing out to get a digi rig, my mind was sufficiently blown.
