I'm trying to find out if I can assign a MIDI controller (or key-stroke for that matter) to Sample Display parameters (e.g. "transpose") for a clip that is yet to be recorded.

The problem is that the clip-view parameters don't show up until a clip has been recorded.

Is there any way to setup parameters for the track or for the slot on which the clip will be recorded?

I am recording clips a la Kid Beyond and would like to assign one of the knobs on my MPD24 to control the Transpose knob in Ableton at the respective clip.

i'm pretty sure the assignment won't apply until after the clips recorded, then you can transpose away no problem. if you want to transpose during recording maybe look at using a pitch shifter plugin instead? graind delay can do pitch shifting but it's pretty... grainy i use audio damages discord (http://www.audiodamage.com/effects/prod ... ?pid=AD011) myself but i'm not necessarily in love with it...

As far as I've been able to work out you can assign a MIDI control to Transpose for any clip and the control will work globally. So the transpose of any selected clip will be altered by the assigned controller. This is kind of useful and kind of not - in many ways it would be great to have separate Transpose controls for each clip. But then just having one keeps things simple. Although its a bit of a nightmare if you dont have endless pots capable of receiving CC data as otherwise the Transpose level for different clips will jump when you tweak the controller depending on the its previous setting.

In Live 6 and onwards you can actually control this from Live's midi preferences, just use the 'pick up' mode to avoid that jump.

holy crap, no way!! Ive been using Live 6 for bloody ages and haven't discovered that! Cheers for the headsup man!

In practice this unfortunately did not work on clip-parameters. I still get value jumps in each mode ("none"/"pickup"/"value scaling").
e.g.: I change Transpose on one clip, switch to another clip and change it there and it immediately goes to the new position of my knob, as opposed to "waiting" for it. Why is that?

Please tell me if this actually works for someone else, and how you did it! (I hope it's not a bug, but that I'm overlooking something)
