When I render/export my audio tracks and import back into the arrangement they are all out of time (files are either longer or it moves the sounds slightly.

Hi,

That;s because your tracks are "Warped". To immediately sove the problem, select all of the clips, and see in the detail view, at the bottom of the screen, the "Warp" button. Turn is off, and make sure each clip has the start end end markers set rigtht.

For the future, in the rendering dialog, make sure "create analysis file" is OFF, and in the Live Preferences, Record/Warp/Launch tab, make sure "autowarp long samples" is OFF, and "Loop/Warp short samples" is on "unwarped oneshot", and you should be fine.

Amaury

I have done that, and its not worked...

Hi,

If you export your tracks at the same sample rate as Live is set to, and in 24 or 32 bits, they should sound identical as they do in the original session, given you play them unwarped. Isn't that the case?

Thanks for your help, I have finished writing the tune, I have consolidated each channel, turned all the warps off to slave, rendered all files to disk at 24 bit which is waht it is set to in the prefs. Rendered as WAVs. The last bot of advice you gave was spot on i imported back into live and it was perfect, I then burnt to an audio cd and imported into qbase and it was all out????

You burned a 24bit file to an audio CD?

How'd you do that?

Also, what sampling rate are you using? Hopefully 44.1 kHz if you are trying to make audio CDs.

No sorry got that bit wrong.... here goes,

I have sampled and arranged a house tune in Ableton on my windows vista laptop. Rendered all tracks to disk, then burnt them to cd.. taken them to the studio. they are then imported into qbase on a mac... when they get there they are all out of time and what looks like random bars added or subtracted. For example we get the beat in time... after a break in the beat when it kicks back in again its out of time. One would assume that get the first bit "in" and the rest would follow. But NO!!

If I import teh files back into abletobn they are spot on ( after doing what I was advised in the above answer to my first post but onto the mac qbase its completely out of sync and time?????? However the length is teh same??

We are now looking at using a motu soundcard and linking ableton direct into the analouge mixing desk... but even that I am struggling with in terms of drivers for vista etc.

Thanks for any help.

sounds like this could be a cubase problem... if everything lines up OK in Ableton.

When you say "out of time" do you mean track 1 and track 2 are playing at different tempos, or do not start at the right times, or do you mean when the beat starts up again, it doesn't start right on the measure marker in cubase?

Its a comercial studio, so i suspect their cubase is fine, also the engineer is switched on and he is stumped.

The tempo is spot on, the markers are in the right place, he's checked my arrangement on my laptop, the master is perfect so I have even saved 1 channel as an arrangement and exdported it as a master a few times and tried to add them in and its still out.

In answer to your question, we match the files ( say beat & Bass ), thern there is a break in the track, then as the beat and bass come back in its out of allignment again. So its not the whole file thats in the wrong place.

We even put a kick on the first beat of the bar of each channel, they match up but still the track doesn't slip in together. I have even added a kick in every space on the arrangement and turned the speaker off in the hope that it would stop parts of the arrangent from moving. Its as though ableton's render adds in some random bars here and there, puts it a 1/4 of beat out, then 1/2 a beat forwards!!

Hi,

That sounds definitely not correct. Maybe I should look at your set. You can send it to me (without the samples) to [email protected] .

Just ot make it clear:

- make sure the song sounds as you like in Live.
- open the Render to disk dialog, set everything to OFF, set the same sample rate as your set, and choose 32bits.
- With the "all track" chosen in the top chooser, you should get all tracks the exact same length. If not, that could be a bug.
