Hello peop!e

Would you like to submit some idea's on setting up live set to perform music. That is DJ-style, non-DJ-style.
I use a macbook with limited plugins and plugin effects.

Tips on books are welcome

Thanks for any input

Hello,
Simply a laptop, a UC33, and a small soundcard to have a nice line out !
Take the time to choose your plugs in, don't forget that the way you control your plugs is very important, another thing very important is to make the limits up and down for each parameter.
Beat repeat, a filter, a good delay are a good beginning !!!

Thanks for your reply

Especially to limit the ups and downs.

Q's
What does your session look like, I plan to put all songs in one session, but struggle to find out wether midi or rendered clips make a intuitive set

it makes no sence to render and play with loops, it will give you many disadvantages, first of all, you can't easilly edit it... second of all the best part about live pa in ableton is the ability to manipulate any instrument on the go at your desire.... third goes hand in hand with second, you want to leave as many options open as possible for when you perform.... it's one thing to mix different parts, but it's a totally different thing to connect with the audience and start editing what you're playing as you go and making radical changes in synth sounds so fourth and messin with their heads :-P

one more reason, tempo variation, if you ever choose to change the tempo of a track or the whole set all the rendered parts will be warped which could cause great audio quality loss....

one good reason to render is cpu savings BUT with a semi slow lap top and a lot of practice and ableton knowledge you can still use full on instruments without overloads if you manage your stuff well...
