1 instr used with diffrent sounds on diffrent tracks

I been trying, reading, but not sure it works the way I wanna do it
I want the diffrent sounds from battery I want to use on seperate tracks
kick
hat
clap
ect..
all on their on track, but using only one instance of battery
(and not having to go in each cell and change the midi output)
is there a way?
Routing to midi track would be a good option if I could have the possibility to be able to make fades and use the volume automation, but using routing to a midi track, the volume option of the mixer doesn't appear.
routing to audio, then I get the volume option of the mixer, but visually, I want clips in the arrange window that rpresent my kick, my closed hat, the open one, all on diffrent tracks with the respective midi part I can arrange to make the build up more visual with all the individual parts
I guess it maybe an old habit in Logic...If anyone has any tips on that i'd be really glad to see what you guys do. I'm curious.
I did read the routing chapter, i checked the beta with the external instrument, but it doesn't seem to work, unless i missed something
thanks

read the live & battery manual...
will help you further....

I did, but I don't find a way to do it the way I'd like to
If I route to a midi track I don't get volume automation and if I route to audio track, I have to keep the midi clip in the midi track of the instrument used
I want 1 clip with kicks, 1 with hats, ect... all in diffrent tracks, with the same instrument with the possibility to do volumes, effects. But I don't want to have to "bus" them to another audio track
seems so complicated to just do something so simple
I scrolled all night last night through the forum to find a way and reading the manuals...
either I overlooked something or it's not possible to do what I want to do

I don't really understand the problem.
I don't have battery but I can't imagine why it wouldn't be easy to do. It's very easy with Impulse or an Instrument Rack -
MIDI tracks for each drum type, each one routed to the instrument track
One MIDI track with the drum instrument
Am I missing something?

hmm thinking more - sounds like you need the external instrument device in Live 7.
Separate MIDI tracks for each drum type, with volumes etc.
What problem did you have in using Ext. Instrument??

thanks for replying
With impulse it is easy because you get the option of every sounds when you route.
but with battery, I would need to go in battery's option and change every sound used and assign them all to different midi outputs, then create an audio track for each sound to receive the assigned sound.
What I don't like about this method, is that the midi clip containing the sequence must consist of all my drum parts within that one clip and that way I find it harder to arrange my drums, build them up, or down because everything is within one clip. When i give my kick and my hi hats, claps, etc, different colors, then it 's easier to get a visual picture and move things around.
Damn it's not easy to explain...
I haven't checked instrument rack though, but did try the live 7 beta external instrument and had the same options.
When using a midi track, u don't get the volume/pan,ect options
and
when using audio track it must be routed to an assigned changed midi channel for the sound used in the instrument used(for this case batterry)
I just get so confused trying to build my rhythms...
I could open an instance of battery for each sound used, then I can do volume, and apply effects to individual sounds and have them all under each other with their respective clips(in arrange view)
Then this way it seems easier and more visual to move the clips containing the midi for my kick and another for my hi hats, claps etc...
Using routing with midi, all the drum parts needs to be in one clip and to change the volume of my hi hat, i need to do it with the velocity in the midi part, because if I lower the volume, it lowers the whole drum set

Again, I don't have battery so someone else will have to address that specifically
But it is easy to do with the Ext instrument device - I just did it with Reason - You end up with separate MIDI tracks feeding a single instrument, but you DO get volume etc. controls because the Ext Instrument "populates" the MIDI track(s)
edit: and, FX can go on each track after the instrument, for the same reason...

I just tried it again with the external instruments
I do get the volume option in the mixer in the external instr track, but it has no effects on the loudness of the sound
Is it a bug or is it normal, that's what i'm wondering
here's how i set it up:
I opened one battery in a midi track
then i opened and external instr in a nother midi track
selected battery in the extrenal instr...
made the midi sequence kick in the external instr.
opened another external instr track and selected again battery
made a hat sequenced in it
tried to lower the volume in the external instr track... no effects at all
If I lower the volume in the battery track, off course it lowers the volume of the kick and the hat
I'll try with another instr besides battery to see if it does that
I'm curious, with reason, which I don't use unfortunatly, you can lower the volumes of your reason sound with the volume option in the external instr pointing to your reason beats?

I tried it with idrum izotope and it's the same
Seems like the volume option does work because it's a midi part and the volume works only on audio parts
It needs to be able to control the volume of midi part too
otherwise the only way is to add a velocity midi effects and control from there or go in the the midi sequence and play with the velocities, which doesn't make the process less time consuming or more direct

I suspect it may be a bug with battery and/or izotope.. and the current state of affairs in the beta
Because it works fine for me with reason -
I don't have any other software to test it with though.. Unless I could try something with Max - actually that is a possibility - I will try to remember to test this
There is a thread in the beta forum about not getting the faders working with battery and ext instrument device.

hehe yeah it's me... I was curious and though maybe ask if it's a normal beahvior or a possible bug of the beta
thanks for checking it
