How to: Poor man's groove quantize

While Live doesn't have real groove template support this workaround can be useful while we wait.

The technique isn't new (ive read other threads talking about it), but perhaps it's not very widely known. It involves placing warp markers and assigning a clip to be the tempo 'master'. I uploaded a youtube vid here:

good trick...

That's a good one. One would have to be terribly certain of the super-coolness of the groove to dedicate the master tempo though! I've grown accustomed to individually grooving each clip; I can hardly imagine the alternative.

To be clear: all other clips (as opposed to discreet instances used to make the secondary beat in the youtube vid) should be 'de-grooved' with clip markers as per usual? This should still result in the groove articulation as long as the arrangement master tempo is not manually modified, since it will be jumping to and fro all the livelong day...methinks

Yes exactly. Any clips that have a rhythmic structure, that you want to follow the master tempo groove, should also be 'de grooved' with warp markers (but don't activate the 'master' button for these clips, they should be slaves), then they should follow the master tempo automation too.
