get yourself a good crack of ableton live. and spend your money on anti-virus software, it's fuckin cheaper.
I pay my way...and honestly, I don't know why I fucking bother. They LIE in their advertisements. And what's worse, when they know they can't deliver on some of the simple promises made during the flash-in-the-pan advertisement campaign...they just keep saying it works anyways. I bought a bunch of NKI libraries because ableton six is supposed to be compatible. It's not. There's a workaround that works about half the time, where if you open the library in kontakt and save the preset again. That's kool isnt it ?...buying & using another program to do what you paid ableton to do. doesn't work with these libraries anyways.
This has been going on since live6 first arrived on the scene, and they are only now working on the bugfix. IN LIVE 7. because once you pay ableton for the current version of live, they're not working on what you just bought. No, they're busy working on the next thing you'll get charged for. You'll find that the bug that busts your workflow get's ironed out around about the same time the next version is announced. or in this case, it doesn't even get ironed out at all...it's getting fixed in live 7 tho.
what's more, is they alluded to giving me a free live7 license recently - after waiting nearly a year for them to fix live6...but tried to make it so I'd keep quiet about it. Fuckit. They have to put this situation right one way or another - my silence should not be a stipulation.
at the end of the day, there's alot of small developers out there who are more grateful for your custom and waaaaaay more transparent about the goings ons of their development team. It's all smoke & mirrors with ableton, and total lies.
the forum is littered with lifeless fanatics tho, who get some kind of perverse kick out of throwing money into a bottomless pit....i think they call it 'community'. It's more like mass hysteria. They love nothing more than to share emoticons with an ableton official...value for money ? who needs it, bob just laughed at my joke.
do yourself a favour. crack ableton. don't put yourself in the situation where you'll become bitter like me
/bends over .....fuck me ralf! you've been fucking me all year you lazy shit, just plug me once more for the lads!

So, the company's shit, and you hate the people on the forum. At over 3000 posts, what the fuck are you still doing here?

He's an idiot, that's what he is still doing here. If b0unce spent half as much time actually working on music instead of constantly bitching and complaining and spewing his hate, he'd actually have something legitimate to talk about.
But alas, he is b0unce... and the stick up his ass is a mile long and his failings as a musician is being spurned upon the companies and tools he can't seem to use.

Started in Digital Performer, got pissed at tech support for telling me to buy a MOTU branded MIDI port because DP wouldn't pass beat clock through a Midisport, even though Cubase and Logic would.
Bought Logic because 4.8 was dead stable on OS9, and when Apple bought it then finally re-branded the company in Logic 7, 7.0 was a fucking disaster, it crashed when I was getting up to get a cup of coffee once!
So I bought Live. The forum is interesting, I like anarchy. THe program is not as stable as people make it out to be. VSTs and AUs crash it all the time, maybe even more so than Logic 7.2.3, this is Live 6.0-6.10 I get more corrupt songs in Live than Logic or DP. And occasionally, large sample file libraries and audio files still cause hiccups in the signal.
Sorry about being long winded, but what I'm saying is they all bend you over a bit. Truth is though, cracked versions have that extra little problem of not knowing whether or not it's the crack that's failing or the program.
If I was starting out doing audio on a computer today, I would probably just get a Linux machine, and run Energy XT plus all the freebies. Limited, but relatively safe from the upgrade-bug-fix-path.
Anyway, I'm sure everyone will rush in and grab onto your 'foul language' without acknowledging that you have a real complaint, but yeah, broken promises in software land suck.

cock & ball torture.
I've hardly been around in a few months, only joined in a handful of discussions lately.
crack ableton.
spend your money on sweets instead.
Machinesworking, I get what you're saying about instabilities & cracked software. It's just much of a muchness at this stage, when it comes down to stability. It's too late for me...but there might be some crack users out there thinking about going legit. DONT FUCKING BOTHER. not with this company.

Guess who's
not going to Camp Ableton this year?!
I think you make a valid point b0unce, but I'm so cynical at this point that I don't even
expect any company bigger than 2 people to want much more than my money and to give any more than they have to. (The downside to small operations though is that they'll probably outgrow their idealism or die)
It's all relative too, of course. I don't have any particular axe to grind with Ableton because there are no show-stoppers for me in L6. Live goes on...

ableton are into me for the cost of live 5, live 6, sampler & operator. not to mention invested TIME. swathes of ableton projects, etc.
nope, I'm going nowhere and I'm calling it how I sees it. Folks, dont be conned into parting with your money for an ableton version. they don't respect their existing customers. they're spending your money developing next years product, there's only a brief period of time where they actually work on the ableton version you pay for. its called the 'beta' period. believe me, once live7 is out of beta...they're gonna be focused on the next money spinner, NOT making sure the product you just bought is up to scratch---or even living up to the fundamental tasks they advertise on the website.
anyways, have fun telling me to piss off

crackers, don't bother going legit.

I'm perfectly happy paying for Live. In fact, I started getting a lot more out of it once I paid for it. I very very rarely have problems, and when I do its almost always due to a plugin. I know for a fact that almost every other software company out there sells products that are constantly in a bug-fix state. I hate that we as consumers end up paying to be gamma-testers, but I also recognize that its a market-wide problem, not just Ableton.

Every time I've ever asked Ableton support for an answer to a question - they have answered me in a timely, friendly and respectful manner. Even when we both knew that it probably wasn't even Live's fault (thanks Amaury).
I am not a fanboy for any company or piece of software. Live, Logic, Cubase, Apple, Windows, whatever - all this shit is imperfect. If Live was anywhere near as unusable and unstable as you make it sound - there's no fucking way anyone would ever buy it, much less attempt to use it for performances.
If you are so pro-cracking, why didn't you just get a cracked version first - see that it didn't do what you wanted it to do (since it's apparently such a dealbreaker) and shut the fuck up and move on? Instead - you've been here long enough to get 3000 posts and you've been this pissed the whole time?
That's more than a little bit sad...
