Configuration

Hi there!
I am new here and considering to go live with Live. I know that I ask maybe the same question as 100 times before: Which configuration???
My proposal: Sony Vaio NV Series 1.6 GHz, Midiman USB Quattro and Oxygen 8. I don't know which OS. XP or 98 SE?
Any Bugs in this combination? I found some bug reports about the USB Quattro but nothing about it in combination with the VAIO.
Is it possible to run Live twice? I read that it is possible under MAC OS X. The same under Windows?
