fuck sidechain
fuck oscilators
fuck midi
fuck automation
fuck tension, electric, analog...
it looks like all you need to make perfect music is audio editor of some kind. he did it again. this is Untrue.

I'm not convinced by Burial. There is no actual music on his first album. Massive Attack's Protection album is a much better example of this type of mood.

Hi,
Is Burial the person who sounds a bit like Basic Channel? So is Burial just using an Audio Editor? Do you have a link to an interview or something, I would like to read it.
I once made a tune in Audacity, took ages, but definetly do-able.
cheers

yes, he does sound a bit like Rhythm&Sound/Basic Channel. i mean it's the same dirtiness in their music that i love so much. reverbs, clicks, i don't know what it is but it fucks up with my emotions.
anyway, there are only few interviews made with him. here are the links:

How do you multitrack (and mix) with a 1 track audio editor?
Or is everything recorded in one pass and mixed in real time onto 1 track with a hardware mixer?

select/copy/right click/mix!
that's how you do it in Sound Forge. amazing, hah?

Yeah that's incredible!
But it seems making it more difficult to do the same thing.
There's a lot of commitment required though, which is a good motivator to get things finished.

burial develops wonderful soundscapes, he got taste. but though developed a step since the debut he misses basical songwriting, telling curves to give it a more miracle, precisely sexual feel and become somewhat a real deal. maybe later.

Website! instead of taking a poo on all of your tools, how about you go get turntable and start fucking with vinyl sounds?
[that's assuming you don't already have a turntable - in which case, plug it in and turn off global quantization and everything that syncs]

Very very inspiring the bits of the new lp I just listened on boomkat
One of the top lp of the year for sure!
So, he does this without a sequencer?
in soundforge?
interesting music and the interviews, what he has to say and how really reflects his music
it's not the same guy as burial mix on basic channel, or?
I looked on discogs and it doesn't seem so...but I could be wrong
I remember years ago really loving those burial dub minimal basic channel like records
is it him...?
samplers and synth played live being recorded ?

Who is saying he doesn't use those things? I read an article where he said he had some professional studio experience.
I agree that his sound is stripped down and minimal but that doesn't mean he is not doing something very technical. I highly doubt he is using just an audio editor.
